I’m involved in the financial administration, including prep work for the monthly reports, invoice handling, general ledger admin, etc. Admin teams are normally consigned to the basement, but not at Prins! My colleagues know where to find me if they need money. No, just kidding! I’m in close contact with all my colleagues in the organization and everyone is keen to help each other out at any time.
I enjoy number crunching as well as balancing the books and working things out arithmetically. Prior to joining Prins, I spent 10 years working for another company. It was a smooth transition from there to here, literally over the course of a weekend. I had my final working day at my former employer on the Friday and started at Prins on the Monday. The work here was more challenging and more enjoyable. Back then Prins had just made the switch to SAP and I already had experience with that. Hence I was able to put my experience to good use straight away and help set up the software package properly.
No two working days are the same. There are different queries coming in from colleagues or different issues to address on a daily basis. The organisation is constantly evolving too and plenty of change goes on in the department. Our team is not especially big, so if one of our colleagues has a day off and/or is busy then we cover for one another. For me that’s self-evident, but it’s far from being a universal norm. It also teaches you more about each other’s areas of expertise.
You get plenty of opportunities here to work on your growth and development, if that’s what you want. Courses and training are available for that as well. Prins moves with the times and is extremely innovative, particularly in the field of financial administration too. I myself have joined the Controller programme, which is another interesting challenge for me.
I enjoy spending time with my family at home. I’ve got 3 daughters aged 5, 8 and 9 years, who keep us pretty busy as parents. I think giving them my time and attention is important. I also enjoy repairing computers. I find it really relaxing getting stuck into something like that and I feel good when I get them up and running again.
